If a picture speaks a thousand words, a portrait speaks volumes more. A portrait should capture the spirit and immortalize the likeness of a loved one. There can be no finer or lasting tribute than the traditional painted portrait.

For over 20 years Jane Friday has been painting portraits in oils and pastels. A tradition many families hold dear is the passing down of a portrait that has been in the family for generations. Today, there is a much broader range of people having their portraits painted than ever before.

After the initial decision to have Ms. Friday paint a portrait, either a photo session is arranged (with travel plans), or a photograph previously taken is submitted. Several important aspects must be discussed: color, mood, pose, dress, and setting. Since the personality of the sitter is important to convey, as much information as possible is recommended.

The cost of two sitters will be double the cost of one. Background, pets, and any added details will be an additional 10% - 25%.

All prices are for unframed work. All pastels will be shipped matted to protect the medium from smudging. All oils will be shipped unframed. Any travel expenses incurred for a photo session will be extra. All photo film and processing will also be extra.

*A deposit of 1/2 of the price is due before the portrait is started. All portraits are guaranteed to the likeness and personality of the sitter.
